Bisquick Pancakes Without Eggs
When you think of Bisquick, you might think that all you can make is traditional pancakes. WRONG! You can make Bisquick waffles, Bisquick blueberry muffins, and even Bisquick cinnamon rolls! There's nothing Bisquick can't do. It's always in my pantry, and I hope it's always in yours too! Plus, making pancakes without eggs is perfect for our friends with allergies or dietary restrictions, so everyone can enjoy breakfast together.
These vegan Bisquick pancakes are perfect because it's a base recipe. You can add lots of different mix ins to the pancake batter to customize them to your family's liking.
Can I Make Pancakes Without Eggs?
Yes! Most recipes that have eggs in the ingredients list can be made without the egg. The egg adds fat and liquid to the pancake batter, so when you remove the egg, you'll need to replace it with something else. For this recipe, we'll be adding a little more nondairy milk and some oil instead of using an egg substitute.
Ingredients to Gather
You only need a few simple ingredients to make these delicious pancakes!
- Bisquick. I always have Bisquick mix in my pantry. Whether it is homemade Bisquick, whole wheat Bisquick, or a box of store bought pancake mix, it's always in my kitchen! You can make so many different recipes with Bisquick! You can make Bisquick cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins with pancake mix, coffee cake in a 9x13 inch pan, and even banana bread with pancake mix!
- Milk. If you are making these vegan pancakes, use your favorite nondairy milk. That can be almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk, or a combination of milks. Whole milk can be used too if you aren't concerned with these pancakes being dairy free.
- Oil. Since we are not using eggs in this recipe, we are using a neutral oil. My favorite neutral oil is coconut oil, but canola oil, vegetable oil, or light olive oil will all work. Melted butter can work too if you aren't concerned with making these vegan.
- Baking Powder. Even though Bisquick pancake mix has leavening agents in it already, we are adding some more baking powder to make these even fluffier!

Is Bisquick Vegan?
The actual baking mix is vegan. Bisquick becomes not vegan when you add milk and eggs to the pancake batter. If you use nondairy milk and don't use eggs, you'll have vegan pancakes!
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, add the dry ingredients.
Step 2: Add the wet ingredients to the large mixing bowl.
Step 3: It's ok if there are a few lumps left in the batter. Do not overmix the batter or the pancakes will be tough.
Step 4: With an ice cream scoop or a ¼ cup measuring cup, scoop the batter into a nonstick pan greased with coconut oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side.
Step 5: Flip the pancake over and cook on the other side for 2-3 minutes.
Lynn's Tip!
For thinner pancakes, add ¼ cup more milk into the pancake batter.
Tips and Tricks
- Do not push down on the pancakes when you flip them. Though it might be tempting to push down on the pancakes, if you want perfect pancakes, just let it hang out and cook in the pan. If you push them down, you won't get that perfect fluffy texture from the pancake.
- The pancakes are ready to flip when the middle bubbles. Small bubbles will start to come through the batter. The edges of the pancakes will also start to dry out. When you see these two signs, it's time to flip the pancakes.
- Do not cook the pancakes too high. Medium heat to medium-high heat is the best for cooking pancakes. Too high and the outside will be too cooked and the inside will be raw. Too low and the pancakes will take a long time to cook.
- Make sure your Bisquick is fresh. Do not use the Bisquick if it is expired or you won't get the rise on the pancakes that you are expecting. The pancakes will come out crumbly and dense.
Variations on Bisquick Pancakes Without Eggs
- Add protein! Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder in the pancake batter. Since we aren't using an egg, the protein powder will help replace some of the protein that the egg provided.
- Add mix ins to the batter! Chocolate chips and blueberries are classic add ins to pancake batter, but you can even add sprinkles or mashed banana to the batter for a fun pancake breakfast!
- Add some nut butter! Add peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter for some more added flavor!
- Serve these perfect pancakes with fresh fruit, maple syrup, blueberry syrup for pancakes, your favorite toppings, or your favorite vegan butter!
Storage Tips
How to store the batter. Once the pancake batter is mixed together, cover the batter with plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. The batter will stay fresh in the refrigerator up to 24 hours.
How to store leftover pancakes. Once the homemade pancakes are cooked and have cooled to room temperature, place the cooked pancakes in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator up to 4 days. To reheat them, place them in the toaster oven for 1 minute or until the pancakes are warm. You can also reheat the pancakes on the stovetop in a dry pan over medium-low heat.
To keep the pancakes warm, after they are cooked place them on a parchment paper lined baking tray or baking sheet and keep them warm in a 200 degree oven. Make sure to keep the pancakes in a single layer so they do not stick together.
How to freeze the pancakes. Once the fluffy pancakes are cooked, allow them to cool completely. Wrap them in plastic wrap and place them in a Ziploc freezer bag. Freeze the pancakes up to 4 months. To reheat the pancakes for a quick breakfast, place them in the toaster oven for 2 minutes or reheat them in a hot pan over the stovetop.
Bisquick Pancakes No Eggs FAQs
I was able to make 8 pancakes with a ¼ cup ice cream scoop. You can make silver dollar pancakes by using a tablespoon to scoop the batter into the pan. It really depends on how much batter you are adding to the pan. The bigger the pancakes, the less pancakes you will be able to get out of the batter.
Definitely! These pancakes can be made with gluten-free pancake mix instead of regular Bisquick.
You can leave the eggs our completely or use an egg replacement that you can find in the refrigerator section of the grocery store.
