    Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and raspberry Kefir are mixed together to make this delicious Mixed Berry Kefir Smoothie! A healthy breakfast or a filling afternoon snack, this smoothie checks all the boxes!

    In the Summer, there is nothing better than a cold, refreshing smoothie! All the berries are in season, so why not put them to good use and mix them all together in a Kefir smoothie!

    If you have some more time, strawberry kefir ice cream is a must make this Summer!

    Kefir is perfect to bake with too! You can make muffins, donuts, pancakes, cornbread, blueberry bread, and even snickerdoodles!

    Why This Kefir Smoothie is Amazing!

    • It's easy to make! Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend it up!
    • It's a great use for fresh berries! Taking the kids berry picking? When you get home make this healthy smoothie to put those delicious berries to good use!
    • It's loaded with probiotics, calcium, and protein! Kefir is similar to buttermilk or yogurt and loaded with health benefits! We are all trying to get more fermented foods into our diets, and this is a great way to do it!

    Ingredients To Gather

    • Raspberry Kefir
    • Strawberries
    • Blueberries
    • Raspberries
    • Honey. You can use maple syrup or agave if you prefer.
    • One Banana

    What is Kefir?

    Kefir is a tart and tangy cultured milk. It is full of good for you probiotics and is high in calcium and protein. In this recipe, we are using kefir where you would normally use buttermilk. The consistency is a little thicker than buttermilk and gives this smoothie a tang that you don't get from regular milk.

    Let's Make A Mixed Berry Kefir Smoothie!

    Wash all the berries and cut the stem off the strawberries. Peel the banana.

    Add all the ingredients to the blender and add at least 1 cup of ice. If you prefer a thicker smoothie, add more ice.

    Blend the smoothie until the consistency is pourable. Serve immediately.

    Variations

    • I used raspberry kefir in this recipe, but you can use your favorite flavor of kefir. Lifeway has tons of different flavors! You can even grab plain kefir to limit the amount of sugar in the smoothie.
    • Use frozen fruit! If you don't have fresh berries, use frozen strawberries
    • Make popsicles! Pour the blended smoothie into popsicle molds and freeze for a few hours. The kids love these popsicles in the Summer heat!

    Can I make this kefir smoothie ahead of time?

    This smoothie is best made and consumed immediately. You can separate berries into bags and freeze them and then when you are ready to make this smoothie, add the frozen berries to the blender along with a banana and the flavored kefir.

    What else can I add to a kefir smoothie?

    You can add spinach or kale to this smoothie for even more health benefits! Half of an avocado or a tablespoon of walnuts can be added as well for make this smoothie a filling meal. Add hemp seeds, flaxseeds, or chia seeds for more nutrition.

    Can I make this into a smoothie bowl?

    Yes! A smoothie bowl should be thicker, so use less kefir and a little more ice into the blender and then pour into a bowl.
