    Tips and Tricks

    • Depending on the size of your waffle iron will depend on how many waffles you can make. This recipe made 3 cups of batter.
    • Do not overmix your batter once you add in the flour. Overmixing will cause the waffles to be tough, and not light and airy. It's ok if there are a few lumps left in the batter.
    • If you are making a lot of waffles, cook the waffles in the waffle iron and place them on a baking sheet. Turn the oven on 200 degrees Fahrenheit and let them hang out in the oven until you are ready to serve them.

    How To Serve Nutella Waffles

    • Serve with more Nutella! To make the Nutella more pourable, place some Nutella in a microwave save bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds.
    • With maple syrup! Use the good stuff too! There's nothing better than some pure maple syrup!
    • With homemade whipped cream! Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to the bowl of a stand mixer with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar. With the whisk attachment, turn the stand mixer on high speed for 2-3 minutes until whipped cream forms.
    • Topped with ice cream! Vanilla, chocolate, chocolate chip, or your favorite variety would all be delicious on these waffles!
    • Topped with sliced bananas! Nutella and bananas go together like peanut butter and jelly!

Can these Nutella waffles be made ahead of time?

Yes! You can make the batter up to 24 hours in advance of cooking the waffles. Keep the batter covered in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them. Cooked waffles should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To freeze the waffles, place cooled waffles in a gallon Ziploc bag and freeze them for up to 3 months.

To reheat them, place them in the toaster oven for 1-2 minutes until heated through. You can also microwave them for 1 minutes, but they would not be as crispy.

Can I make these into Nutella pancakes?

Yes! Add ¼ cup more milk to the batter to loosen it up a bit, but then you have perfect Nutella pancakes!
