Christmas Fudge Ingredients

This is a 3 ingredient fudge recipe. You can add sprinkles on top of this sweet treat if you would like, or you can leave it as is for a classic chocolate fudge.

An overhead shot of the Christmas fudge ingredients.
You only need a few simple ingredients for this fudge!
  • A 12 ounce bag of semi- sweet chocolate chips
  • A 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • Festive sprinkles. Amazon has a ton of different varieties, but you can also find them in Aldi or Walmart during Christmas time.

How Can I Melt The Chocolate?

For this recipe we are going to use a double boiler which is basically a medium saucepan that has an inch of water in it. Then you will place a heat safe bowl over the saucepan. The heat from the boiling water will melt the chocolate.

If you are not comfortable using a double boiler, you can also add the chocolate to a microwave safe bowl and melt the chocolate in the microwave. Microwave the chocolate for 20 seconds at a time and mix the chocolate until it is fully melted.

Tips for Easy Christmas Fudge

  1. Use Full Fat Sweetened Condensed Milk. I tried the low fat version once thinking it wouldn't make a difference, and the fudge never set up properly. Stick with full fat for that classic firm, creamy texture every time.
  2. Let It Cool at Room Temperature First. It's tempting to stick the pan straight in the fridge to speed things along, but rushing this step is what leads to a grainy bite. Give it a couple hours on the counter before it goes in to chill.
  3. Add Sprinkles While the Fudge Is Still Warm. If you wait until it cools, the sprinkles just roll right off the top. Sprinkle them on while the fudge is still warm and soft so they set right into place.
  4. Line Your Pan for Easy Removal. Parchment paper or foil with a little overhang makes lifting the whole batch out so much easier than trying to dig it out with a spatula. It also keeps the edges looking clean when you cut it.
  5. Cut It Once It's Fully Set. I know the wait is hard, but cutting too early gives you messy, uneven pieces. Let it fully set in the fridge first, then slice with a sharp knife for clean squares every time.

Holiday Fudge Variations

  • This easy recipe is really just a basic fudge recipe. You can even add peppermint extract for a little extra flavor.
  • Use different types of chocolate! White chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, or a combination of chocolates can be used in this fudge.
  • Make it more festive! Just like peppermint bark has a white chocolate layer sprinkled with candy canes, you can add white chocolate to the top of this fudge and then sprinkle it with candy canes.
  • Make peanut butter fudge! With only 2 ingredients, it doesn't get easier!

Notes

  • Make sure to line the baking dish with parchment paper otherwise the fudge will stick to the baking dish.
  • Do not walk away from the stove.  The chocolate will burn quickly if it is not stirred constantly.  The heat should not go above medium heat, but medium low will work too.
