    Pasta, feta, and the Instant Pot, how could it get any more amazing? This pasta is so easy to make and perfect for a meatless Monday dinner!

    We've all seen the viral TikTok feta pasta that circulated the internet a while back. It takes a while, because you have to bake the feta and then mix everything together.

    In the Instant Pot, everything is added right there and cooked together! Instead of well over 30 minutes to make, this pasta takes barely 15 minutes.

    Dinners are easier with the Instant Pot! You can make lasagna soup, cauliflower soup, split pea soup, minestrone soup, or zuppa toscana!

    Ingredients You'll Need

    Ingredients for the Instant Pot Feta Pasta
    • Feta- one 8 ounce chunk. Don't use crumbled feta, you want the brick of feta for this dish.
    • Broth- I used chicken broth, but you could use vegetable broth or water.
    • Pasta- one box, your favorite shape.
    • Tomatoes- one pint. Red, yellow, or a mixture of both is what you'll need.
    • Garlic powder- to add some spice.
    • Pesto- to add some more flavor.

    What Type of Feta To Use

    Feta is a soft Greek cheese. It's perfect for this pasta because it doesn't get stringy like a mozzarella would. It makes a beautiful, creamy sauce when mixed with the broth and pasta. Feta has a delicious salty and tangy flavor that you can't get from other cheeses.

    For this recipe, you want to use a whole chunk of feta. Do not use the feta crumbles as they will fall apart and you won't get the creamy sauce around the pasta.

    There are so many different types of feta out there. If you have a favorite variety, such as sundried tomato and basil, or Mediterranean, use that! The extra spices in the feta will only give more flavor to the pasta.

    • Instant Pot- at least 6 quarts
    • Mixing Spoons
    • Measuring Spoons

    How To Make Instant Pot Feta Pasta

    • Add the pasta, chicken broth, pesto, garlic powder, and tomatoes to the Instant Pot.
    • Mix to combine.
    • Top with the feta block. Do not stir.
    • Close the Instant Pot and set pressure to "high" for 5 minutes.
    • Manually release the pressure after the cooking time.
    • Open the Instant Pot and stir all the ingredients. It will look a little watery but as you stir, it will thicken up.

    Which Type of Pasta is Best?

    You can use gluten free pasta, whole wheat pasta, or chickpea pasta in place of your standard pasta.

    Farfalle, rotini, penne, or shells would all be delicious. You can use spaghetti but you will have to break the spaghetti in half in order to get it into the Instant Pot.

    Rotini is my favorite in this recipe because all the creamy sauce gets into the twists and turns of the pasta.

    Variations

    • Make it vegetarian! Use chicken broth, vegetable broth, or water in the Instant Pot. To make this vegetarian, use vegetable broth or water.
    • Add some protein! To bulk up this recipe and add more protein, saute chicken breasts for 8 minutes in the Instant Pot. Then top with the rest of the ingredients.
    • Add more veggies! Bulk up the veggies and add zucchini, broccoli, spinach, or kale to this recipe.
    • Add some toppings! Top this pasta with more pesto, parmesan cheese, chopped tomatoes, or some more crumbled feta.

    Questions About Instant Pot Feta Pasta

    How should leftovers be stored?

    Place the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can leave the pasta in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, place the pasta in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 90 seconds to two minutes.

    Can I use a different type of cheese that is not feta?

    For this recipe, you want a creamy cheese. Ricotta, goat cheese, or even brie would work in this recipe. Cheddar wouldn't melt properly to give you the creamy sauce.

    Can you freeze Instant Pot Feta Pasta?

    Yes! You can freeze this pasta in an airtight container for up to 3 months. To defrost, place the container in the refrigerator and reheat on the stove or in the microwave.
