What's in These Burgers?

The ingredients could not be simpler for these burgers. All you need are five ingredients you probably already have on hand!

Ingredients for the Chicken burgers with feta and spinach

Ground Chicken- This recipe uses one pound of ground chicken, making 4 burgers. You could easily double or triple this recipe if necessary. Make sure that your ground chicken has a little bit of fat in it. Try to stay away from ground chicken breast that is 99% fat free as that would be too lean.

Feta- I did not add any salt to this recipe, because feta tends to be very salty. Use full fat feta instead of low fat or fat free. You will want the extra fat in the cheese and also the extra salt. If you buy a block of feta, crumble it to the size of peas. Otherwise, you could buy the pre-crumbled feta.

Spinach- Fresh spinach works well in this recipe, but if you had frozen you could use that as well. You'll want to chop the spinach into small pieces. I would use half the amount of frozen spinach than fresh spinach because frozen spinach has already been wilted.

How to Make These Burgers

Add the spinach to the bowl of feta, seasonings, and ground chicken
Step 1: Grab a medium bowl and place the ground chicken into the bowl. Top with the feta, spinach, and seasonings.
Mix everything together with your hands
Step 2: Mix all the ingredients together well. You can use your hands or a wooden spoon for this.
Make the burgers into patties
Step 3: Form the meat into burgers and place them on a tray. They are now ready to grill!
Place the patties on the grill to cook
Step 4: Place them on a grill and let them cook about 6-8 minutes on each side. The internal temperature of chicken should be 165 degrees in order to be safe to eat it.

Questions about these Burgers

What an I use instead of chicken?

If you don't want to use chicken, feel free to use turkey or even beef. Try to keep the fat in beef to no more than 85/15. You could even use salmon meat and make a salmon burger with this technique.

What can I serve these with?

This Chicken and Bacon Caesar Pasta Salad and Antipasto Pasta Salad would be a delicious side dishes with these burgers. Serve them on a bulky roll topped with your favorite burger toppings. This would also be a delicious burger to top a salad with, if you wanted to make this more low carb.

Can I make these ahead of time?

You can put everything together ahead of time and make the patties, store them in the refrigerator. Then, when you are ready to eat, grill them up and enjoy! Don't grill them before you need them, they are best straight off the grill.

I don't like feta, can I used something else?

Definitely! White cheddar would be amazing, as would swiss or American cheese. Try to keep them about the same size as crumbled feta would be, about the size of a peanut or a pea.
