Ingredients

  • 3 cups All Purpose Flour
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Butter Cold
  • 1 cup Kefir

Instructions

  • Cut the butter into pieces. Set it aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  • Add the cut up butter and kefir to the bowl. With your hands, mix until the ingredients are just combined.
  • Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Shape it into a disk. Cut the disk into 8 pieces. Place the pieces onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.

Notes

  • Place the baked scones into an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze the scones for 3 months.
  • An optional step is to brush the tops of the scones with heavy cream and sprinkle them with a little bit of sugar.
